Art Hall Awards is a member of the internationally known Awards and Recognition Association. As a member, they were honored to be a nominee in the 2002 and 2004 Dealer of the Year Awards and more recently featured in the March 2004 issue of the ARA Magazine. Below are excerpts from that article titled “A Reputation for Artistry”.

“A Reputation for Artistry”

As with so many trophy and award shops of a certain age, the Austin, Texas-based Art Hall Awards began by selling bowling trophies.  Now 45 years later, not much is the same, except the name and the reputation.

While the idea these days is to provide a one-stop shopping experience for anyone coming through the door, Steve Prater, the company‘s marketing manager, says what keeps people coming in is the attention to detail given to every order.

The reason for that care is simple. Everyone working at Art Hall Awards is aware it has taken decades to build the company’s reputation, but only a few bad jobs can tear it down and, “we guard our reputation carefully,” Prater says.

Today, the firm’s product line is so diverse that Prater hates to characterize anything as the shop’s specialty. However, he says trophies and awards remain the company’s bread-and-butter. Other popular items include crystal, acrylic and even cast bronze plaques.

With that type of product mix, it is not surprising that custom design is an Art Hall specialty. The custom award the company is most proud is the “Edward R. Murrow Award,” which is given out annually by the Radio and Television News Directors Association to such broadcast stars as Walter Cronkite, Barbara Walters and Hugh Downs. This award was designed by the talented artists at Art Hall Awards.

Perhaps one reason the company is recognized for its custom awards, is that its outside salespeople have art backgrounds and are able to help their customers every step of the way, even with the creation of logos.

Still another reason, is that the company does not practice hard-sell tactics on people, and the sales staff always keep the customer’s budget in mind. Having a wide range of products is helpful, because there’s something for every budget.
